Ellen Annala, who has been CEO of the organization since 1998, plans to step down from her post effective April 1.
A search for someone to replace her began the middle of last year.
Annala told IBJ soon after her July announcement that she wanted to stay with United Way long enough to implement a five-year strategy. She said she hoped a new CEO would begin before she left so the person could ease into the job.
A spokeswoman for the not-for-profit agency told IBJ earlier this month there were no names to announce and declined to provide any updates.
