Senior Communications Manager, Visit Indy

Nate Swick calls himself “one of Indy’s key storytellers.” He manages Visit Indy’s local, regional and trade media relations, working to earn positive media exposure for Indianapolis as a must-visit destination. He’s played a role in landing favorable headlines in publications such as Conde Nast Traveler, The New York Times, Forbes, USA Today and many more. As an undergraduate, he interned with the NCAA and had the opportunity to go to Nashville, Tennessee, and Tampa Bay, Florida, for back-to-back women’s Final Fours. Being exposed to the impact a major event has on a community stoked his interest in tourism as a career. His final internship was with Visit Indy, which created a full-time position for him after graduation.

Proud moment in your career? “The work we did on this past year’s College Football Playoff National Championship. My colleague Morgan Snyder and I served as communications co-chairs for the event and I’ve never worked harder, learned more or had a more rewarding experience.”

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? TBD. “Nothing is more damaging to an adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future.” —Jon Krakauer, “Into the Wild”

Netflix recommendations: “Not on Netflix, but my favorite TV show is ‘Yellowstone.’”

Go-to coffee order: nitro cold brew (new to the coffee game as of December)

Morning person or night owl? “I am an early riser, as I like to get a head start on the day. I’m up by 5:30 most days and, on a school night, you’d be hard-pressed to catch me awake past 10.”•
