Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. announced Friday in a press release that it's increasing Highlander production by 15,000 units at its Princeton plant as part of a $30 million investment.
The 200 new workers who will be hired will increase the plant's work force to 4,700.
Plant President Norm Bafunno says the expansion will "meet growing demand for the Highlander and is a part of our strategy to build vehicles where we sell them."
The Princeton plant builds a gas version of the Highlander and will begin producing the hybrid version later this year. The new production volume will be the gas version.
