A man died shortly after being taken into custody by Indianapolis police at about 8 p.m. Thursday near 22nd and Station streets, not far from Martin University. Police say Jeffery B. Lilly, 22, was a suspect in an undercover narcotics operation and took off running when they confronted him. Police used a stun gun on Lilly after a short foot pursuit. He became unresponsive and died shortly after being captured. Officers said the suspect, who has a long criminal history, may have consumed an unknown drug during the incident.
