move 200 jobs to its Fort Wayne plant to make electronic components for
cabins in the Boeing 737 and 777 aircraft.
The London-based company said it would cut 500 jobs from its Irving, Texas,
plant and add 200 at Fort Wayne during the next 18 months. BAE spokeswoman Lisa
Albiston said the company will start hiring at the end of March and continue
adding jobs until June 2010.
The additional jobs will boost the Fort Wayne work force to nearly 1,000.
Fort Wayne plant operations director Bob Hoffman says about 75 percent of the
new jobs are will be production workers. The rest will work in engineering and
support.
