A spring 2023 opening for Patachou on Pine Street is likely, company founder Martha Hoover said, if construction isn’t delayed and supply chain challenges can be conquered.
The Lemon Bar, launched in October 2017 by The Flying Cupcake founder Kate Drury, closed in February. Drury blamed the restaurant’s demise on staffing challenges related to the pandemic.
Once an abandoned garage at 95 E. Pine St., the 1,600-square-foot location borders Lions Park and is part of a block that includes Truffles & Creams Chocolatier, Zionsville Olive Oil and coffee shop Roasted in the Village.
Hoover said glass garage doors on two sides of Patachou on Pine Street will allow for indoor/outdoor dining opportunities.
Because of the building’s compact size, the menu will be “an edited version of Patachou’s offerings: omelets, salads, soups, sandwiches and, of course, cinnamon toast,” Hoover said in an email interview.
A full espresso bar menu and selections of wine, beer and spirits are planned for Patachou on Pine Street.
Founded by Hoover in 1989, Patachou Inc. owns and operates hospitality concepts Cafe Patachou, Petite Chou Bistro, Napolese Pizzeria, Public Greens Urban Kitchen, Bar One Fourteen and Apocalypse Burger.
An additional Patachou location is planned as part of the redevelopment of former Indianapolis car factory The Stutz, 1060 N. Capitol Ave.
Drury’s Flying Cupcake, meanwhile, continues to operate at five locations: three in Indianapolis, plus stores in Carmel and Greenwood.

this will be a great use of this location!
So grateful Patachou is bringing its radically different, radically better ethos to my hometown!
That’s certainly good news for Zionsville, so congrats. I heard Martha Hoover mention in an IBJ podcast earlier this year that she was also planning a new establishment in Westfield…..”Indiana’s Fastest Growing City”. Westfield could certainly benefit from some new non-chain restaurants….I wonder if Ms. Hoover is still considering a location there?
