  1. I think Vaughn was marginally involved in too many scandals during his tenure at the city and on the council. I think the major one that would come back to haunt him was how the entire mayor’s office seemed to be asleep at the wheel and allowed the land bank to get out of control and triggered and FBI sitting on the steps of the CCB carrying out computers and boxes of documents. I think this alone would give him major headaches in a mayors run. Just my thoughts on the subject.

  2. Any candidate that is politically aware, knows to wait until after the election coming up in 6 weeks. The first job is always to win your primary. Party voters often get very cranky, when someone steals the spotlight from the upcoming election. Once as that is behind us, look for candidate announcements.

  3. Anyone who can persuade Republican state legislators to stop trying to micro-manage the affairs of the largest city (and the state’s economic engine). That ought to be job #1.

    1. But what would Senate Republicans who represent Indianapolis like Aaron Freeman, Jack Sandlin, and Mike Young do if they stopped doing that?

I mean, they sure aren’t standing up and fighting for better roads for their constituents.

  4. I’m not sure what people see in Ryan Vaughn. I can think of one semi-retired attorney in town who would make an excellent Republican candidate, however. Either way, Hogsett would be wise to not run again and let Osili assume the mantle.
