The company's Greensburg plant turned out its first Honda Civic sedans on Oct. 9, 2008, with about 1,000 workers at the plant. Honda officials say the factory now has more than 2,000 employees. In addition to the traditional Civic, the plant also produces the Civic Natural Gas, the Acura ILX, Acura ILX Hybrid and the Civic Hybrid.
The company said the factory about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis has produced more than 650,000 vehicles since it opened and has the capacity to build 250,000 cars a year.
Honda Manufacturing of Indiana President Bob Nelson said the company has had great support from its local communities and the state, and that it is excited about its future in Greensburg.
