Fairbanks Foundation Inc. to install electronic medical record systems as well as billing and scheduling software at its eight community health centers.
The grant comes at a time that HealthNet’s patient population, drawn from some of Indianapolis’ poorest neighborhoods, is growing and now totals 47,000.
HealthNet officials said the new computer systems would make its 110 doctors, nurses and health professionals more efficient, cut down on errors and help it share information across the different clinics.
Installation of the eClinicalWorks billing and scheduling software will begin this summer. The electronic medical record system will be installed in late 2009 or early 2010.
“These exciting innovations will help us meet the challenges of not only caring for more patients, but providing the best possible care to those most in need,” said HealthNet CEO Booker Thomas.
HealthNet is a not-for-profit network of five community-based health centers, an OB/GYN care center, a pediatric and adolescent care center, and eight school-based clinics, Many of its patients are uninsured or underinsured and live below the federal poverty level.
