As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowNew York-based Direct Brands Inc. announced yesterday it is closing distribution and support centers in Indianapolis, Terre Haute and South Carolina, eliminating 469 jobs.
The company, formerly BMG Columbia House, will consolidate the operations into a Direct Brands facility in Pennsylvania by the end of the year. The move will involve 152 workers in Indianapolis, 147 in Terre Haute and 170 in Duncan, S.C.
The facilities employ distribution workers, call-center employees and information technology personnel.
The cuts will begin May 29, said Paula Batson, a Direct Brands spokeswoman.
Direct Brands operates music and book clubs in the United States and Canada.
