The school district south of Indianapolis had been planning to hold a referendum on the proposed plan in May.
The project would upgrade the high school, consolidate elementary schools in a new building and upgrade athletic facilities.
Superintendent Steven Stephanoff recommended the delay after speaking with community groups about the timing of the project, the newspaper said.
