McVey, a former aide to Dan Quayle and Dan Coats when they were senators, was the 7th District GOP nominee in 2002, when he lost to the late Rep. Julia Carson.
He said today he’s running against Burton because “the nation is hungry for new people, new blood, new perspectives” and that he can help “reshape how Republicans try to lead.”
Several other Republicans reportedly are considering challenging Burton, a 14-term incumbent, including former state Rep. Luke Messer of Shelbyville.
