Christel House Academy and Flanner House Elementary School received full renewals.
The mayor issued Fall Creek Academy a two-year extension tied to specific performance parameters that the school must meet before it can reapply for a full renewal.
The three public charter schools opened in the fall of 2002. The mayor and his charter schools team analyzed performance data about the schools collected over the past seven years to determine whether renewals should be granted.
Those evaluations include site visits and annual analysis of a schools’ performance on tests, including the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress exam. Also considered were annual financial audits by an independent accounting firm and surveys submitted by parents, staff and students.
The mayor’s office said Christel House Academy and Flanner House Elementary School achieved exemplary results, but Fall Creek Academy, while progressing, must address a few problem areas regarding governance and financial reporting.
There are 17 mayor-sponsored charter schools in Indianapolis.
