The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. outside Castleton Square, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
The man was in stable condition, Capt. Mike Leepper said.
A third person, an adult, was cooperating with law enforcement and is currently a person of interest, Leepper said.
Police believe there was an altercation in the parking lot before the shooting.
“Based off the information that we have … we have absolutely no reason to believe that we have any ongoing threat to the public and we believe that we have all the parties that were involved in the incident in custody,” Leepper said.
At 1,383,200 square feet, Castleton Square is the largest shopping center in Indiana. It is owned and managed by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group.
In July 2021, one person was shot inside the mall. At least two shootings occurred at Greenwood Park Mall, south of the city, in 2022.

This is an example of why this mall is on life support. Shoppers don’t feel safe there. Until we start taking these bad actors off our streets, this will continue.
Agree. Dumbocrats have emboldened criminals/thugs to do as they please. Until we have a change in mindset in how we deal with this kind of people by our city “leaders”, this stuff will continue.
Glen – majority of the issues you describe come directly from the statehouse which is in republican control….
Party of big government GOP has handcuffed the city from running itself…
Security and police have been attacked by “progressives”. Defunding and yelling “Efff 12” and all that trash causes these negative spirals. People trashed downtown and are trashing Castleton and late nights in Broad Ripple. The Mayor Boss Hogsett and the pretend AG are a joke.
To be honest I don’t know what the answer really is. This is a trend going on all across the nation and not just here in Indy.
Again, name calling is useless, sophomoric and counterproductive. So, if the GOP were in control, would all crime cease. Would altercations cease. Would peace and harmony prevail at the Castleton Square parking lot allowing all to feel safe?
