Subscribe NowKent Anderson, a military veteran who has overseen international business development for the Indiana Economic Development Corp. since January 2012, has been promoted to the influential position of vice president of business development, the IEDC said Friday.
In the role, Anderson will work directly with chief executives in Indiana and around the world to help them expand their businesses or move them to the Hoosier State. In many cases, he will serve as the first point of contact for those CEOs.
Anderson immediately replaces Charlie Sparks, who had been with the IEDC in various positions since its founding in 2005. Sparks left to "pursue new endeavors," the IEDC said.
Anderson is a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master's of international business studies from the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business. He served tours of duty with the Indiana National Guard in Iraq and the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War.
In private sector life, Anderson planned and implemented logistics processes for German luxury carmaker Audi AG in Germany and served with Switzerland-based George Utz, Inc. as its first general manager of North American operations.
Most recently, Anderson led the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
