The company, which operates a 311,000-square-foot distribution center at 5304 W. 74th St., said the jobs would be eliminated during a two-week period beginning June 23.
In a prepared statement dated Tuesday and posted Wednesday by the state, MKM attributed the cuts “to current and projected business needs.”
“Based upon the information available at this time, MKM anticipates that the layoffs will be permanent but will not result in the entire facility being closed,” the statement said.
The company did not say how many employees will remain at the business. A call to a company spokeswoman listed as a contact was not immediately returned Thursday morning.
MKM had about 140 employees in November 2013, according to the Warehousing Education Research Council.
MKM Distribution was founded in 1981 as MKM Trucking, delivering to retail stores on the East Coast. The company specializes in distribution and fulfillment services for the retail sector.
