The corporate committee pledged millions in advance in sponsorship for the potential game. How great and inspired would it be for the committee to come home with some great ideas on how to use that investment and do something anyway. Something accessible, inclusive, distinctive and impactful to tourism.
Maybe startup costs for a major summer music and arts festival. Or perhaps construction of a multi-use theatre (say 500 seats) on the east side of downtown to anchor the Market Square cultural district. How about an interactive playground along the lines of St. Louis’s City Museum? A signature attraction for White River State Park to change the city’s skyline?
The possibilities are endless and the opportunity is singular. I would love to see the mayor, downtown leadership, and our corporate community come together and put those commitments to lasting use in the coming weeks.
