Stay open to other views

Bruce Hetrick’s [May 26 Viewpoint] on living and learning in silos not only is something that I completely agree with, but I found myself having the same exact conversation with clients and friends.

We (myself included) have to be careful about not falling prey to shunning controversial views. With the quantity of information available and our ability to filter what information we process, we could easily only expose ourselves to ideas and viewpoints we agree with.

All the knowledge one has is the aggregation of our life experiences, conversations with others and the words we read. Elected officials and constituents alike could benefit from having meaningful, intentional, constructive dialogue with others that may have a differing viewpoint.
