Maplehurst plans expansion into Lebanon, 219 jobs

Maplehurst Bakeries LLC plans to spend $77.8 million to open a plant in Lebanon, creating up to 219 jobs by 2017, the company announced Monday night.

Maplehurst, which is based in Brownsburg and owned by Toronto-based Weston Foods, manufactures frozen bakery products for in-store and food-service bakeries.

The company said it will renovate and equip a 180,000-square-foot facility in Lebanon that will house the warehouse, distribution and manufacturing operations for its cake and cupcake products. The plant is expected to be operational in March 2015.

Maplehurst Bakeries,  currently has more than 1,000 employees across the country, including more than 300 full-time employees in Indiana

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Maplehurst Bakeries, LLC up to $1.1 million in conditional tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans.

Maplehurst's products include donuts, pies, cupcakes, cake, rye bread, sweet goods and gluten-free baked goods.
