While we are at it can we also change the title of the position to Superintendent of Schools?
The word “public” in the position’s title leads to confusion. Some, specifically the Indiana State Teachers Association and its members, see this person responsible only for public schools. Others see this person responsible for the larger definition of “public” and as such they are truly responsible for all accredited schools in our state, be they public, private, parochial, charter, online, etc.
