Domtar Corp. said employees will be let go Dec. 12 to allow the closure of its facility at 6461 Saguaro Court on the northwest side of the city.
Domtar operates more than a dozen converting centers in North America that produce and package different sizes of paper, folio sheets, paper rolls and business forms.
Among the employees at the local plant are 12 press operators, eight supervisors, six maintenance workers, five utility workers and three accounting clerks.
Some of the workers at the facility are represented by Graphic Communications International Union, Local 17M. The union got in hot water in 2013 when it was accused of violating Indiana’s right-to-work law by the National Labor Relations Board.
Domtar, a public company with about 10,000 employees worldwide, had sales of $5.4 billion in 2013.
