As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowRolls-Royce PLC announced yesterday that it has landed a $106 million contract with the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command to help power KC-130J tanker aircraft flown by the Marine Corps.
Indianapolis-based Rolls-Royce will provide engine management, support, troubleshooting, parts, supplies and logistics support for the Marine aircraft.
The contract is for one year, plus three option years.
The deal is the third major military contract Rolls-Royce has landed this year, bringing more work to its local manufacturing plant.
The company in February received a 10-year, $400 million contract to produce helicopter engines for Texas-based Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.
In January, it announced a multiyear contract to develop fuel-efficient turbine engines for the U.S. Air Force – a deal that could be worth as much as $185 million.
