Subscribe NowBy unilaterally proposing that the superintendent of public instruction be appointed, not elected, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce has fired another shot in “The Teacher Wars” (the title of a new book).
The chamber could have attempted to formulate a proposal in cooperation with other interests, such as teachers themselves, but instead elected to proceed in a manner reminiscent of the many conflicts between management and labor, as well as between Republicans and Democrats. No good can come of this. Disagreement and confrontation are the problem. Compromise is the solution.
