The General Assembly adjourned last night without passing a new, two-year budget, which will force lawmakers to reconvene to craft a spending plan.
Daniels said today that the plan lawmakers voted on but did not pass late yesterday spent too much money at a time when state revenues have taken a big hit. He said he would have vetoed the plan had it been approved.
He did not say when he would call a special session but said the best thing for lawmakers to do is go home, get away from special interests and listen to taxpayers.
