Lathrop was appointed leader of the CIB in 2009 after serving as treasurer of the board the previous two years. She was the first woman to hold the president's position.
“Ann Lathrop's leadership has been critical to the Capital Improvement Board's unparalleled success in helping Indianapolis achieve new heights as both a destination city for the world's largest conventions and as a place where our country's biggest events can call home," Ballard said in the statement. " Ann's tenure was marked by triumphs such as Super Bowl XLVI, and also by sound financial leadership, a sustained emphasis on transparency, and continued support for our tourism and travel industry. Ann has served the people of Indianapolis with honor and distinction.”
The mayor's office did not release any other details about the departure and could not be reached for comment Monday night.
Lathrop also is chief marketing officer for the Indianapolis office of accounting firm Crowe Horwath LLP. She served as city controller from 1997-99 under former Mayor Steve Goldsmith.
Lathrop was named an IBJ Woman of Influence in 2011.
