Subscribe NowWorkers at a Cummins Inc. engine plant are working only two days this week and may see additional cuts in hours due to the shutdown of a Chrysler pickup truck assembly plant in Mexico. The Cummins Midrange Engine Plant in Walesboro makes engines for the Chrysler plant in Saltillo, Mexico, which has been shut down for at least four weeks due to Chrysler’s bankruptcy filing. The production cuts affect about 650 workers. Cummins spokesman Mark Land said no decision has been made on production and staffing schedules after this week.
Community fills position vacated by CEO
Community Health Network is promoting from within to fill the position vacated by Bryan Mills, its CEO in waiting. Mills is leaving his post as CEO of Visionary Enterprises Inc., a Community subsidiary that operates for-profit surgery centers, to become CEO of the Indianapolis-based hospital network later this year when current CEO Bill Corley retires. Community announced today that Kyle Fisher, who had been chief operating officer of VEI, will replace Mills.
