Marion County families can now fill out a single application for both the preschool grant and the state's On My Way Pre-K program. The programs help provide children from low-income families with quality preschool.
Families eligible for the city's grant must live in Marion County, have an income below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. The child must be at least 3 but younger than 5 by Aug. 1.
Applications are due by April 30. If the number of qualifying families exceeds the grants available, a lottery in May will determine grant winners.
Under the proposal, an estimated 700 to 1,200 children are expected to receive grants. Funding for the plan received approval from the City-County Council on March 2.
