Mike Pence has appointed Sara Gonso Tait as the new executive director of the Indiana Gaming Commission and former state Republican Party Chairman Tim Berry as director of the Department of Financial Institutions.
Tait will move up from her position as the commission's general counsel to replace the retiring Ernest Yelton on Monday. She also previously worked as director of license control and a staff attorney for the commission.
Berry will move in to his new position on June 8. He fills the position previously held by Dennis Basset, who was recently named public finance director of the Indiana Finance Authority. Berry announced in March he was stepping down as GOP chairman. He won elections as state auditor in 2006 and 2010 after serving eight years as state treasurer.
