As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowManufacturer Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies plans to spend $20 million to expand its plant in Morristown, creating up to 75 jobs by the end of 2019, the company said Thursday morning.
The expansion will add 20,000 square feet to the company's 65,000-square-foot plant, which already employs 266 full-time workers about 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
The plant produces more than 100 million components annually for automotive and general industry customers, including off-set seals, transmission seals, fuel system seals, driveline seals and diaphragms.
Founded in 1989, Freudenberg-NOK is a joint venture between German-based Freudenberg and Co. and Japan-based NOK Corp. The company has more than 20 plants in the United States, including a second Indiana facility in Shelbyville.
The company said it will begin hiring immediately. Positions will include hourly production jobs and salaried supervisory and administrative positions.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Freudenberg Freudenberg-NOK up to $625,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job-creation plans. The city of Morristown will consider additional incentives.
