As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowWISH-TV Channel 8 plans to expand its local morning news programming by a half-hour daily, the Indianapolis station announced Wednesday.
WISH said it will begin airing its weekday Daybreak news a half-hour earlier, at 4 a.m., beginning July 13. It will continue to broadcast morning news weekdays until 9 a.m.
The station now runs TouchVision News, a syndicated program, in the 4:30 a.m.-to-5 a.m. time slot.
The move will mark the second time WISH has expanded its local news coverage this year. Beginning Jan. 1, the station expanded daily newscasts by four hours a day, including the addition of two hours of morning news.
The extra news has been used to fill a programming void after WISH lost its 58-year-old affiliation with CBS-TV at the beginning of the year.
The latest expansion comes under the direction of Elbert Tucker, who was hired by WISH in April to replace outgoing news director Steve Bray.
