California-based Spyder Auto, a provider of aftermarket automotive products, announced Tuesday morning that it plans to establish operations in Plainfield, creating up to 115 jobs by 2024.

Spyder said it will invest $5.2 million to buy a vacant building at 1570 Perry Road and turn it into a logistics and distribution center. The 109,000-square-foot facility will be Spyder’s first location outside California, enabling the company to grow its sales beyond the western United States.

“We are now able to deliver a larger variety of products faster and more efficiently, servicing all areas in the continental United States within two to three business days,” Spyder President Nelson Li said in a statement.

The company, founded nearly a decade ago in City of Industry, California, specializes in customized fog lights, tail lights, headlights and other auto accessories.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Spyder up to $600,000 in tax credits based on the company’s job-creation plans. The credits are performance-based, meaning until workers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The town of Plainfield is considering additional incentives.

The arrival of Spyder further Plainfield’s reputation as one of the top logistics markets in the United States, Robin Brandgard, president of the Plainfield Town Council, said in a statement. Plainfield has more than 35 million square feet of logistics space.
