How about a law that forces legislators to get off their phones during hearings or when on the House/Senate floor?
Why would you want to have a law for this? Elected officials are held accountable by voters, and if for whatever reason decide to skip a session, nod off in boredom or play videogames, that’s the chance they take with their base (and their reputation). More saliently, they can and do use their phones to communicate with constituents and other parties on a real-time basis as they work through crafting and passing legislation (at least at the state level). Lastly, why do people like you always feel there has to be a “government” solution to every problem? Government generally “is” the problem more often than not, so no, we don’t need oversight laws governing the use of cell phones by grown-ass men and women.
I don’t get it. What’s the point?
Schools already ban phones. What’s the point of making this into a law?
Makes it a law and not a policy. Easier to enforce is my guess. There are many entitled people who disregard policy.
No they don’t. Educators have become woke. Too bad they have to pass laws because our society is so permissive
Blame everything on the teachers. Why don’t you get your license and show ‘em how it’s done, John? Lord knows Indiana thinks any fool can teach kids, our miserable educational results notwithstanding…
Don’t know what schools you’re talking about. Many high schools have no restrictions on phone usage.
John A.
Don’t mean to be confrontational, but rather than expect teachers to enforce the cell phone use, why don’t we as parents control the phone use of their children?
Discipline of any sort starts at home…controlled by parents.
BTW: the use of the word “woke,” to describe teachers is completely void/inadequate/wrong. And, the definition of woke is being aware.
