Builders filed 530 single-family permits in the nine-county metropolitan area in June, BAGI said Thursday. That's a 9-percent increase from June 2014.
Permit filings had fallen on a year-over-year basis for the past two months and in three of the last four before June’s numbers.
Year-to-date filings are now at 2,639 through June, down only 1 percent compared with the first six months of 2014, when 2,675 permits were filed.
June filings were up 24 percent in Marion County, from 70 to 87, and are up 14 percent for the year.
Filings rose 19 percent in new-home hotbed Hamilton County, from 171 to 204, but are still down 2 percent on the year.
Filings rose from 42 to 62 in Hancock County, a rise of 48 percent.
Hendricks County saw a 4-percent decrease in permits, from 69 to 66. Filings dropped 33 percent in Boone County, from 49 to 33.
Permits slipped 5 percent in Johnson County, from 58 to 55.
Fewer than a dozen permits each were filed in Shelby, Madison and Morgan counties.
