Subscribe NowSheila Kennedy [July 27 column] claims that people read the Bible to determine “ … their moral superiority and their right to tell everyone else how to live.” She sets up a straw man by assuming a vicious and totally unbusinesslike answer by the baker to the customer, then writes, “Apparently, what these ‘godly’ folks really want isn’t just the right to refrain from participating; they want the right to scorn and humiliate any hapless LGBT folks unwary enough to patronize their establishments.”
Oh? Was it the baker who hired the lawyer and went public nationally about the situation? Was it the baker who pushed the problem into the courts? Was it the baker who found a judge who was willing to destroy the business because the baker wanted to “tell everyone else how to live”?
