During the teacher shortage hearing, many noted that urban, rural, and even suburban, higher-paying schools are struggling to fill faculty positions and struggling to provide qualified substitutes.
Who can pay off college loans on starting salaries of $35,000 with no assurance of ever getting a raise in base pay and little or no financial compensation for achieving advanced degrees? Would you recommend that your son or daughter go into teaching?
