Almost half of the money—$585,000—is coming from a national settlement entered into by the U.S. Department of Justice, various states Attorneys General and Bank of America.
Indiana Legal Services offices statewide will share $275,000, and the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society in partnership with Indiana Landmarks will receive $230,000. Smaller amounts are going to five regional legal aid groups.
Twelve pro bono not-for-profits around the state funded by the Indiana Bar Foundation will share $800,000 in annual grants. Pro bono legal representation is provided without charge to clients.
