Ashton Gleckman likes to say that he lives and breathes cinema. Five years ago, he founded his production company, Blackbird Pictures, and has directed, edited and co-scored the documentary films “Kennedy” (for the History Channel), “We Shall Not Die Now” (released via Amazon Prime) and “The Hills I Call Home” (released by Gravitas Ventures). He also has worked independently as a film composer and hosts the YouTube series “Behind the Score,” in which he analyzes famous film soundtracks. The series has about 60,000 subscribers. Gleckman started as a musician at the age of 7, played in bands and recorded his first album at age 13. In 2018, Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Hans Zimmer came across Gleckman’s music and offered him a job. Then he began a career as a documentary filmmaker. For his eight-episode series “Kennedy,” he filmed more than 80 interviews, captured more than 170 hours of footage and was able to work with actor Peter Coyote.•
