The party’s precinct committee members elected Ping to the post on Tuesday night. She replaces Kyle Walker, who resigned after five years in the job.
Ping, a principal of Bose Public Affairs Group and the firm’s managing director of procurement, takes over after a disappointing city election for the GOP. The Republican mayoral nominee—Chuck Brewer—never seriously competed in a race against Democrat Joe Hogsett. And Democrats retained control of the City-County Council, despite a reorganization that eliminated several seats Democrats had previously held.
“We will look to the future and build a larger, stronger party where Republicans of all stripes are welcome,” Ping said in a statement. “We will advocate for policies that continue to build on the progress of the Ballard administration—and voice strong opposition to those that do no.”
Ping serves as campaign chair and finance chair for Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann’s campaign. She had been the vice chairwoman for the Marion County Republican Central Committee and is vice chairwoman of the 7th Indiana Congressional District for the Indiana State Republican Party.
She was an elected delegate to the 2008 and 2012 Republican National Convention and served as co-chair of Indiana Women for McCain. In 2006, she ran unsuccessfully to be the Marion County auditor.
