Officers say an 18-year-old was driving east on State Road 32 in Westfield with four passengers aged 14 to 18. They tried to pass a vehicle when the driver lost control, went into a ditch, flipped and hit a utility pole. A 17-year-old passenger died in the accident. Just seven hours earlier, an accident in Carmel claimed the life of 16-year-old Lilly Martyn. She and two friends were leaving the Monon Center when the driver accidentally drove off the curb and flipped the car, ejecting all three teenagers.
