Subscribe NowFort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry plans another attempt to have a referendum on gambling approved during the special session of the Indiana Legislature. Henry, whose earlier request was ignored during the regular session, says he’ll travel to Indianapolis to push for a referendum to see if voters want a casino in Fort Wayne. The city also is paying two lobbying firms to help persuade lawmakers. House Ways and Means Chairman Bill Crawford (D-Indianapolis) and Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-Fort Wayne) have said no gambling provision in the budget bill will be considered during the special session. But Henry says citizens should “have the right to make that decision.”
