In notice posted Friday by Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Southwire officials said the closure of its facility at 600 S. Perry Rd. would be permanent. Terminations would be begin March 31 and be finished by June.
The employees include 39 warehouse specialists, an operations manager, five supervisors and three shipping clerks.
The company did not provide a reason for the closure.
Southwire, based in Carrollton, Georgia, is the largest manufacturer of copper and aluminum rod, wire, and cable in the United States.
The company announced plans in November 2014 to expand operations in Bremen in northwest Indiana and add 100 employees. At the time, the company had more than 300 workers in Indiana.
