So outside the loop, a billboard can just pop up on any parcel without obtaining any permits or following any standards. That seems absurd.
Hi Mark,
My understanding is that outside of the loop, there are still standards and a permitting process that must be followed for new billboards. This just streamlines the process for relocations.
I agree there will be so many more billboards around I 465 now without limiting the number and location.
How come Carmel doesn’t get targeted by the bill board industry? For as few billboards I’ve seen (I think it’s zero) in Carmel, I would think there would be some outcry from the industry being completely banned! They have the highest income house holds and US 31 has to have some huge daily traffic volumes.
Oh… Wait, a gerrymandered Republican supermajority in the state legislature isn’t about doing what’s good for business, it’s all about owning us lib’s down here in Indy.
