New data released by BioCrossroads shows life sciences companies in Indiana had $9.9 billion in export activity in 2016.

That’s enough to rank Indiana second-highest in the United States.

The data, compiled by the Indiana Business Research Center at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, also found that life sciences exports make up 29 percent of Indiana’s total exports.

Indiana is home to the global headquarters for Cook Medical, DePuy Orthopaedics, Dow AgroSciences, Eli Lilly and Co. and Zimmer Biomet. The North American headquarters of Roche Diagnostics is in Indiana and a number of other companies—including Boston Scientific and Medtronic—also have major operations in Indiana.

BioCrossroads is a public-private collaboration that aims to grow the life sciences industry in Indiana.•
