U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is the only candidate to have announced public appearances in Indiana. He and running mate Carly Fiorina had been expected to start the day at 8 a.m. at the Lincoln Square Pancake House in Westfield. But 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the event, Cruz's campaign said the senator would not be there.
Fiorina and Heidi Cruz did show up to shake hands and talk with diners. Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said they made a mistake in saying originally that he would be there.
The Cruz team is scheduled to to visit Evansville for a 10:30 a.m. stop at Wolf’s Bar-B-Q Inc. Then Cruz and his team will watch results roll in at Crowne Plaza Downtown Union Station in Indianapolis. The watch party begins at 7 p.m. in the Grand Hall Ballroom.
Donald Trump will keep an eye on the Indiana primary from Trump Tower in New York City, where he’s expected to make remarks after the polls close.
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders heads to Louisville, Kentucky, to hold a rally at the Big Four Lawn Waterfront Park.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be in Charleston, West Virginia, on Tuesday morning for an event focusing on substance abuse and addiction on the University of Charleston campus. She'll move west in the afternoon to Athens, Ohio, where she will visit Jackie O's Production Brewery and Tap Room and discuss jobs and the economy.
Actor Sean Astin will campaign for Clinton in four Indiana cities. Astin, who is known for his roles in the “Lord of the Rings” triology and the movie “Rudy,” will start his day visiting with South Bend voters at 10 a.m. at #2 Fire St.
He will then host several Get Out the Vote Events. The first will be at the Hillary for Indiana Fort Wayne office at 1932 S Calhoun St. at 1 p.m. He will then travel to Clinton’s office in Muncie at 214 N. Walnut for a 3 p.m. kickoff. He’ll then finish the day at the Indianapolis office at 7235 N. Keystone Ave. with a 4:30 p.m. event.
