An official with Diversified Machine Inc. in Bristol has notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of terminations due to begin next week, The Elkhart Truth reported.
Operations director Steve McKenzie said the job cuts are due to "the sudden and unforeseen cancellation" of a contract with the company's largest customer, which he did not identify.
The Bristol operation is a division of automotive parts supplier Chassix.
More than half of the layoffs take effect Monday, with staggered departures planned throughout the summer, the notice said. Ten employees will remain through October.
About 30 of the workers are salaried employees; the rest are hourly.
