The Broad Ripple-based company, which employs about 50, announced the brand change Wednesday morning. CEO Cameron Weeks said the change reflects the company's evolution from simply selling private business exchange, or PBX, systems to selling multifaceted contact-center-management software based in the cloud.
"We can still provide the receptionist a phone on their desks … ," Weeks said. "But when it comes to managing customer relationships with sales and support teams, we can really empower those teams with specialized software."
Weeks said Sharpen helps sales teams with so-called cadence management, which entails when to call prospects or customers and what to say. It also helps call centers integrate outbound and inbound call operations.
The name change comes on the heels of the company's April hiring of Jacob Schpok, former executive director of the Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, as vice president of operations. The firm also opened an office in San Francisco that month.
Weeks said Sharpen is finalizing a $4 million round of equity financing. The company has 22,000 users and expects to quadruple booked revenue to more than $7 million this year.
