A group by the name of the Indiana Voter Registration Project is accused of turning in forged voter registration applications. The secretary of state’s office said the group altered the addresses of voters who are already registered.
“I encourage all Hoosiers to be vigilant at this time and to monitor their voter registrations until the close of the voter registration deadline,” Secretary of State Connie Lawson said in a written statement.
The secretary of state’s office said it believes the group will continue working until the voter registration deadline on Oct. 11. Registration information can be checked online at IndianaVoters.com. Anyone who finds their information has been changed without their knowledge should immediately contact the Secretary of State’s office at 1-866-IN-1-Vote.
Indiana State Police are investigating the fraudulent registrations.
