Wurth plans to invest $11.5 million to build and equip a 230,000-square-foot facility in the Southpoint Business Park. The business park is located just off of I-65 between East County Line Road and East Main Street in Greenwood.
Wurth’s new facility will be located just north of the Ulta Beauty distribution center. Officials planned to host a groundbreaking ceremony at the spot Monday morning.
Wurth currently has 100 employees at its Indianapolis operation, located at 4935 W. 86th St. When the new Greenwood facility is finished in September 2017, Wurth will move its operations from the leased property to the new site.
The company also plans to add as many as 60 new warehouse and administration positions by 2020. Hiring for those jobs will begin next year.
The city of Greenwood approved 10-year real and personal proerty tax abatements for the project, which will save the company about $2 million over the terms of the abatements, according to Katie Culp, president of KSM Location Advisors, which helped negotiate the incentives.
In addition, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered the firm up to $400,000 in tax credits based on its job-creation plans. The credits are conditional, meaning the company cannot claim them until workers are hired.
