Tech firm CloudOne changes name to ClearObject

Fishers-based technology firm CloudOne Corp. has changed its name to ClearObject Inc., the company announced Wednesday, a move that marks its evolution from a niche cloud-services firm into a leading "internet of things firm" with a variety of offerings.

The company said its new name and logo will be effective Wednesday, and will have no effect on its operations or structure. The company said the rebranding comes ahead of its plans to expand its workforce and finalize plans for an expansion to a second location in central Indiana, "which will be announced later this month."

The 10-year-old company, which has about 45 employees, got its start by offering software-as-a-service and virtual private cloud delivery of IBM products, but company officials said it now provides a way for any enterprise to adapt their legacy products into the cloud and the burgeoning IoT ecosystem.

"Over the years, our mission, capabilities, and potential have evolved," CEO John McDonald said. "In the past three years alone, we have nearly tripled the staff at our corporate headquarters, cultivated strategic partnerships and resources, and unleashed new ideas for our customers, and it was time to more clearly convey those abilities with a new brand.

"ClearObject better defines our company ethos and expertise as a leader in the internet of everything."

The company has earned a number of recognitions in the past several years, including a 2015 Red Herring Top 100 North American Startup award and No. 1001 ranking on the 2016 Inc. 5000 List. It generated $10.4 million in revenue in 2015, according to its Inc. 5000 listing, which was nearly five times more than what it raked in during 2012. 

The company was the No. 9 on IBJ's latest list of the area's fastest-growing private companies.

In 2015, the company relocated its headquarters from the north side of Indianapolis to the Nickel Plate District in Fishers. Last April it raised $9 million in venture capital.
