Before Ted Dickman took the job, Baird Kurtz & Dobson’s CEOs had always lived in Springfield, Missouri, the company’s headquarters. But when Dickman was promoted in June 2012, he broke the mold. “That’s not a negative reflection on Springfield,” he said. “It’s a reflection on our deep commitment to remaining in central Indiana and how much we enjoy being a part of this community.”
In the nearly five years since, BKD has grown revenue, invested more in research and development, and made improvements to retain employees.
“For me, it’s been just a terrific experience, but I feel like all my experiences along the way helped me be better prepared for it,” said Dickman, who became part of BKD when it merged with his longtime employer, Olive LLP. “As regional managing partner, I worked with eight different offices, so I went from eight to 26 in some ways. It’s been a lot of fun to work in this role and work across a broad group of offices.”•
